Free outdoor entertainment series June 14–October 25, 2023

Application deadline: extended to March 27, 11:59pm

ANY APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AFTER THE DEADLINE WILL BE MOVED TO A BACKUP LIST AND CONSIDERED ONLY IF SPACE ALLOWS.

The Harvard Ed Portal is hiring family-oriented musical acts and stage performers to perform a 75-90 minute outdoor show on select Wednesday afternoons, June-October at the Brighton Farmers Market.

These free family-friendly concerts present an eclectic soundscape of live music and can include acoustic or amplified music, dance, storytelling and/or educational entertainment. We are actively seeking a wide array of genres, from Children’s music to hip hop, acapella, funk or mariachi –surprise us!

Our primary mission is to serve the Allston-Brighton community, including its creative economy. We are also focused on the rest of Boston and Cambridge. Preference will be given to applications from performers living, studying and/or working in these areas. However, we welcome artists living throughout Greater Boston. Performers can be emerging entertainers or long-time pros. Preference will be given to acts of 2 or more (including accompanist) or established soloists. BIPOC & LBGTQIA+ creatives are strongly encouraged to submit.

Performances will be held once or twice a month at 4:30 p.m. and take place at Brighton Common, a city park across from the Brighton Library with a large outdoor stage at one end, across from the Brighton Library. Performers should come prepared to plug in and play. Concerts in the Common will provide a simple stage setup: amps, a mic, an 110 volt outlet, a brief sound check and an event manager. Performers must bring their own instruments, props, additional sound equipment and/or crew, as desired. Load-in is at 3:45. Performances begin at 4:30 pm. Sets may be performed straight through for 75 minutes or 90 minutes with a 15-minute break.

Concerts are “fair weather only” but artists will be paid rain or shine as long as they report to the farmers market the day of the show.

Presented in partnership with the Brighton Farmer's Market and the Allston Brighton Health Collaborative.
